Happy Holidays!

It's that time of year again. Eggnog, Christmas trees, presents, family, big dinners, snow (not so far), winter coats and toques, butterscotch pull-aparts (yes it is as good as it sounds), wrapping paper tube sword fights, and of course our annual Mario Kart tournament.

It's a time to be thankful for all that we have and to spend time with our loved ones. The holidays are the best!

For me Xmas is the most important time of the year. Its when my family all head to my parents house and spend two days together.

I just wanted to write a blog post wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and happy holidays!

A weekend at the Bartlett's, a Saskatoon Engagement - Caitlyn + Eric

During the time I've lived in Saskatoon I made a lot of close friends. People that I miss dearly and that I will always be friends with. One of those good friends, Chelsey, had invited me to come back to Saskatoon for a weekend to take her sister's engagement photos as well as hang out and see where she had grown up.

Meeting Chelsey's little sister Caitlyn for the first time I could see that awesomeness ran in the family. When I met Eric, him and Caitlyn being together really made sense. They compliment each other perfectly, such a wicked couple. I couldn't be happier that Caitlyn and Eric are together and that I was able to hang out with them the entire weekend and take their engagement photos. They even were nice enough to drive me to the airport for my flight back to BC. (Thanks again!)

Our weekend was absolutely fantastic and a TON of fun! I'm not going to lie, it was mostly pleasure and some work. Riding a Sea-doo, swimming, and hanging out on the boat during the day and an engagement photo session later on in the evening.

The Bartlett's treated me like family. They welcomed me into their home, fed me, took me out for some fun, showed me around town, and we chatted about everything from photography to Bob Marley. Thank you Bartlett's, you are an amazing family.

To Caitlyn and Eric, congratulations! I am so thrilled you two are engaged and thank you for letting me photograph you two. Hopefully we get to hang out again soon, all the best!

A perfect Saskatoon wedding - Brett + JoAnn

The day started off in a relaxed mood. I arrived at Brett's house around 9 in the morning and him and I took his dog Karl for a short walk before the big day got rolling. The guys had some running around to do before the ceremony so I decided to go along for the ride.

The next hour or so was filled with picking up some of the groomsmen, picking up the rental van to transport the wedding party, making sure all the electronics were working at the reception, and of course taking photos. After spending some time with the guys I went to meet the ladies to photograph them getting ready.

JoAnn had herself surrounded by her wonderful bridesmaids and mom. They all were so supportive and everyone was very excited. It was a great morning filled with laughter, a lot of smiles, and some nerves ;).

The rest of the day went beautifully. The ceremony was great, lots of happy tears and Brett and JoAnn saying their "I do's". Then we had a few hours for formals which we went around to a couple different locations in Saskatoon. Its always tiring for the bride and groom trekking around for photos and putting on smiles whenever I needed them to. But Brett and JoAnn stuck it out, although they were pretty gassed by the end. Then came the reception which I loved. Candy buffets, cap guns being fired off, delicious food, and hearing some very moving and funny speeches. To top it off the dance floor was awesome and everyone got out there and showed off their moves. It was a fantastic day!

Some of the greatest things about being a wedding photographer is being able to constantly be surrounded by true, raw emotion and be allowed to witness and photograph it. Also to see two people who are head over heels in love pledge themselves to each other. Its a very powerful thing and I am blessed to be able to do this.

Thank you Brett and JoAnn for allowing me to be a part of your big day. I am so happy for you two and congratulations!
