Chelsey + Mark - A sunny Saskatoon engagement

I think finding out that two of your great friends have gotten engaged is one of the best moments out there. So naturally when I learned that Mark and Chelsey had gotten engaged I was thrilled.

The timing for the shoot worked out perfectly. I was already heading to Saskatchewan to photograph Caitlyn and Eric get married so I flew into Saskatoon and spent a couple extra days there. It was a little complicated trying to coordinate everyones work schedules to get a time to shoot but managed to get couple hours right before I flew back to BC.

This was probably the fastest/most efficient shoot I've done and also some of the work I'm most proud of. Thank you Chelsey and Mark for asking me to do your photos, you two were awesome, and I can't wait for your wedding next year!

Caitlyn + Eric - A perfect backyard Regina Beach wedding

You may remember from awhile back I did some engagement photos for the awesome couple, Caitlyn and Eric. Well I had the honor of photographing them tie the knot this summer in beautiful Regina Beach, Saskatchewan.

It was such a great time! Alison and I flew out a couple days before the wedding to spend time with Caitlyn, Eric and other friends and to also help prepare everything for the wedding. The wedding was held at Caitlyn's parents house and it was stellar! The amount of effort that everyone put in in preperation for the wedding is a tribute to how loved Caitlyn and Eric are.

The weather was awesome, the light was AMAZING (seriously, the best light Ive had for a reception ever), and everyone was happy. I also ran my first photobooth at this wedding and it was super fun, lots of great photos and funny expressions.

You can't get a better day.

To Caitlyn and Eric, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your big day. I had a lot of fun and you both, as awkward as you thought you were, were absolutely great!

To the Bartlett's, thank you so much for inviting Alison and I into your home, the hospitality was amazing and we thank you and look forward to seeing you all soon!

Blain + Miriam - A breezy, beautiful Kamloops wedding

One thing that I absolutely love about photographing weddings that I will never get tired of is seeing people during one of the happiest days of their lives. Living, loving, laughing. Pure happiness, it never gets old. Its even better when you get to photograph one of your life long friends get married. I've known Blain my entire life, from sleepovers when we were little to club soccer in our teens. I was so pumped when I heard he had gotten engaged and even more pumped when I met Miriam for the first time, she is absolutely fantastic! I was super excited and honored when Blain and Miriam asked me to photograph their big day and it turned out awesome!

Blain and Miriam had chose to get married in the countryside on an awesome piece of property called Grandview Acres just outside Kamloops. When you think of Kamloops, instantly the word 'HOT' comes to mind. Luckily the temperature had gone down for the weekend and there were clouds and a nice breeze which made the day very comfortable.

Like all wedding shoots, our day starts early with the ladies photographing the 'getting ready' photos. I have to say photographing Miriam and her girls getting ready was some of the most fun I've had doing prep photos. Everyone was there to have a good time and just enjoy themselves, which set the mood for the rest of the day which went perfectly.

Congratulations again Blain and Miriam! Thank you very much for inviting me to document your very special day, it was a blast!

Carter only a few days old
...My newest little nephew, Carter Verde! Yet again I am blessed to be a Uncle to another wonderful little person. My brother, Nathan and his wonderful wife, Lori, had Carter on July 15 at 9:05pm. I got to visit him a couple days ago and he is so amazing! It was also REALLY cool to see Nathan and Lori as parents. Congratulations again you two, you have a great little boy and you both are going to be excellent parents!

Is your cup full?

Someone once explained to me that everyone has a "love cup", an internal measurement of how happy you are in life. Throughout your day or week things will happen to you that empties your love cup. It could be something small that gradually drains you like the stress of commuting to work in a busy city or it could be something substantial like getting let go from your job. He explained that it is up to YOU, no one else, to actively seek out things to refill your love cup, that happiness is not a passive feeling, that it is chosen and pursued.

Don't sit on the sidelines and be passive in your own life. Take risks, get out of your comfort zone and make mistakes. Check in with yourself every day and make sure you are doing things to make you happy, that truly bring you joy and that fill up your love cup.

I hope everyone is having a great week and has a fantastic weekend!
