Blain + Miriam - A breezy, beautiful Kamloops wedding

One thing that I absolutely love about photographing weddings that I will never get tired of is seeing people during one of the happiest days of their lives. Living, loving, laughing. Pure happiness, it never gets old. Its even better when you get to photograph one of your life long friends get married. I've known Blain my entire life, from sleepovers when we were little to club soccer in our teens. I was so pumped when I heard he had gotten engaged and even more pumped when I met Miriam for the first time, she is absolutely fantastic! I was super excited and honored when Blain and Miriam asked me to photograph their big day and it turned out awesome!

Blain and Miriam had chose to get married in the countryside on an awesome piece of property called Grandview Acres just outside Kamloops. When you think of Kamloops, instantly the word 'HOT' comes to mind. Luckily the temperature had gone down for the weekend and there were clouds and a nice breeze which made the day very comfortable.

Like all wedding shoots, our day starts early with the ladies photographing the 'getting ready' photos. I have to say photographing Miriam and her girls getting ready was some of the most fun I've had doing prep photos. Everyone was there to have a good time and just enjoy themselves, which set the mood for the rest of the day which went perfectly.

Congratulations again Blain and Miriam! Thank you very much for inviting me to document your very special day, it was a blast!

Carter only a few days old
...My newest little nephew, Carter Verde! Yet again I am blessed to be a Uncle to another wonderful little person. My brother, Nathan and his wonderful wife, Lori, had Carter on July 15 at 9:05pm. I got to visit him a couple days ago and he is so amazing! It was also REALLY cool to see Nathan and Lori as parents. Congratulations again you two, you have a great little boy and you both are going to be excellent parents!

Is your cup full?

Someone once explained to me that everyone has a "love cup", an internal measurement of how happy you are in life. Throughout your day or week things will happen to you that empties your love cup. It could be something small that gradually drains you like the stress of commuting to work in a busy city or it could be something substantial like getting let go from your job. He explained that it is up to YOU, no one else, to actively seek out things to refill your love cup, that happiness is not a passive feeling, that it is chosen and pursued.

Don't sit on the sidelines and be passive in your own life. Take risks, get out of your comfort zone and make mistakes. Check in with yourself every day and make sure you are doing things to make you happy, that truly bring you joy and that fill up your love cup.

I hope everyone is having a great week and has a fantastic weekend!
